Atheist finds God between a bear and the woods – something has to give

Will God answer an atheist's prayer when he gets trapped by a bear in the woods?

An atheist was walking through the countryside while on holiday in America when he took a wrong turn and found himself at the edge of a mountain wood.

It looked magnificent so he thought he take a detour through for a little while.

He’d no sooner stepped inside when he found himself confronted by a bear, a hungry bear in a bad mood.

The animal quickly overpowered him and knocked him to the ground. “God help me,” cried the atheist as he looked up in terror at the ferocious animal.

Suddenly, the heavens opened and time seemed to stand still as the voice of God boomed out. “What, you’ve denied me all your life and now in your moment of need you think you can call on me? Are you suddenly a believer?”

The atheist knew it would be hypocritical to say he was so he thought maybe he could compromise with God.

“Well, I know I don’t deserve your help but perhaps you might be kind enough to make the bear a Christian?”

“Consider it done,” said God.

The bear looked down, licked his lips, then put his hands together to pray: “Lord bless this meal. For what I’m about to receive, may I be truly thankful.”
